Mostly Ink / Writing

Original

Battle Cries for the Twenty-First Century Written for NaNoWriMo 2003, this was a rambling romantic comedy about annoying nerds. Excerpted to kill the worst of the wordcount-stalling, but still very long.

Fic & Filk

First off, I'm only any good at genfic, or PG-13 at best. Sorry.

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Frozen Time (2004) A character analysis essay of Nemuro/Mikage. Written for the reflections_2 LiveJournal community. [End of series spoilers]

Drabbles: What Is Not (2005) A 8x150-word set based on an AU premise that takes one character out of each story. What would Nanami be if Touga had never existed? Miki without Kozue? Anthy without Utena? This is my favorite drabble set.

Drabbles: The Day After the Revolution (2005) A 6x100-word set based on the end of the series, with a bad-idea-in-retrospect naming scheme from a Pulp song. Yay. [End of series spoilers]

Drabbles: Switch (2005) A group of four 100-word drabbles written from a prompt/challenge on the utenadrabble LiveJournal community. Theme: Switch the gender of one or more of the characters. These focus on Nemuro, Tokiko, Saionji, and Juri. Not written as a single set, but they all came from the same prompt. This was my first attempt at drabbling.

Power and Envy (2005) OK, I don't like this one much in retrospect, but you can decide. A 7x200-word set about Saionji and Touga, based on a duel-name prompt in the utenadrabble LiveJournal community. [End of series spoilers]

Powerless (2005) A rambling story about Saionji that I wrote when I was feeling bereft of writing mojo, as an exercise. The prompt was "frustration." Set during the Black Rose arc. Mid-length, about 2400 words. [Black Rose Arc spoilers]

Welcome to the Real World (2004) Written for NaNoWriMo. A post-series fic about Nemuro and about building a life outside Ohtori. Almost intentionally boring and very rambling. Excerpted, but still quite long. [Tokiko/Nemuro, Mikage/Mamiya, Nemuro/Mikage. Um. Black Rose Arc spoilers. Some weird quasi-smut here and there.]

Power Is Bound in Material Things (2005) I briefly return to the strange world of fic poetry. I didn't notice that I kept naming my stories "power"-y things. Sorry.

Assorted Drabbles: Anthy & Akio (2005) Together or separately. [End of series spoilers]

Assorted Drabbles and Ficlets: Other (2005/06) So far, this includes Mamiya, Nemuro, Mikage and Mamiya, and a pre-series Shiori.

Final Fantasy VII

Devotion (1999-2001) A monstrously long pre-game fic about Turk Vincent, Lucrecia and the JENOVA Project. For a long time this was My Dramatic Fic Opus. Now it strikes me as amazingly maudlin and occasionally absurd, but hey, let it stand as my monument to maudlin...ness. Note: Note the dates. This was written long before FFVII:AC or DoC came around, back when Vincent's backstory was a mostly mimed flashback that was moderately annoying to find. Remember those days? Sigh. Well, anyway. Thoroughly Jossed now, but still a nostalgic trip.

A MSTing of FFVII (2000-2004?) What it says. Unfinished. I don't know whether it will ever be finished. It's so, so, so long. But man, was it fun for a while. Kind of quirkily formatted - I mean to get on that, um, eventually. The blue boxes that look like FFVII dialogue...oh, you'll get it.

FFVII! The Musical (?) A collection of parody filk-y lyrics, spun off the MSTing.

The Logic of Grief (2002?) A short, strange, tense little piece about a JENOVA-Project-era Hojo in a dark hour. Different continuity than Devotion. This and "Ground Control" still fight it out for the title of my favorite among the old stories.

Ground Control (2002?) Cloud calls a week-long break before assaulting the Northern Crater, so Cid Highwind goes home to figure out why he's on this crazy freakin' trip.

Final Fantasy VIII

FFVIII! The Musical (2002?) A collection of parody filk-y lyrics, spun off FFVII! The Musical.

Star Ocean: The Second Story

Sacred Songs (2002?) My main foray into the strange world of fic poetry, this collection features one piece for each of the party members. Picked as Best Poetry of 2002 on rpgamer.com's fanfic section. It's my only accomplishment as a ficwriter, so shush.

Sambai Tea and Sympathy (2002?) After being ditched by Claude & co., Opera Vectra and Ashton Anchors come across one another in a bar in Salva. Finally fixed a few glitches with this one. Cough.
